Happy New Year!

It's just another day...right? Don't tell Cara that! And of course not! Everday is something special! Unfortunately today, it's rainy and yucky here! That means I'm starting the new year off right, knitting!! No resolutions for me this year, I think they're silly. If you want to do something better, or try something new, just do it. Don't resolve to do it just because the calendar flips!! Just "give it a whirl!"

So here's what I've been doing with my time the last few days (thanks to a condensed work schedule, the holiday, and the National Day of Mourning for Gerald Ford - I ended up with 5 days in a row off work!)
For the birds -
Just a little house for them to hang out in...although I don't think they will. I guess it's more decoration than anything. We love watching birds, so we're creating a little sanctuary for them!

Unfortunately, we're also creating a sanctuary for the squirrels. It becomes a little tricky trying to keep them off the feeders! They can be very smart at times. So far they've been off the big feeders this year, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time!

Saturday we headed over to Calvert Cliffs. Pretty neat little place. We ended up doing way more hiking than we planned on...thanks to a strategically dropped (ha!) cell phone at the end of the trail (loop of 3.6 miles). Whew...that wasn't fun. Thankfully a man and his son found the phone and recognized my Bubber Bear from his picture on the phone and called the last number! But, he had just reached the beach...1.8 miles in. So back in we went....He met us part way in, so I think in total we hiked about 6 miles, running part of the way the second time around. Whew, what a day! But at least we were laughing about it! Aforementioned Bubber Bear dropped his phone over the side of a bridge once...at least we could get mine back!!

But this is what I found at the beach. Two sharks teeth, two other teeth , and something's old home. My grandparents live on the water, so I grew up looking for sharks teeth, but I hadn't found one (or even looked for that matter in probably 10 years!) so I was shocked to find 2 in about 20 minutes! Bubber Bear said I would be his hero if I found one, and I ended up with 2! The smaller one in the picture is about 1/2 the size of my pinky fingernail. Sorry - my to scale picture (with my finger in it) didn't turn out too well!
